Come and bask in the glow of the white light as the journey of summer begins and new worlds of creativity unfold! Here in the temple the light will shine, from deep within, from beyond the stars, and from everywhere around us. We come together to focus this light and dance in this sacred space, being fully present and bringing nothing here but that which is of the light. We are honored to have this truly amazing and beautiful new space opened up to express our creativity and love for music, the heartbeat of the cosmos.
This is an intentional and magical dance event done with reverence and clarity, and we therefore ask that the space be wholly respected as a sacred and consecrated temple, which means bowing when you enter, stepping into the space with a pure state of mind, and bowing when you leave. Indeed, the intention is not to have a party, but an ecstatic dance of spiritual expression, done with complete presence. It is a place to heal by immersing ourselves in the music. We really do want to see complete and total sobriety here, to experience the type of fun we experienced as children playing, innocent and pure. Please come, and come with a positive attitude and a warm heart, so that we can all be together in the light, receive the light and heal.
8-10pm | Devon
Patrick is one of Portland's most seasoned downtempo and psychill performers, blending amazing beats together that transcend reality and bring down a powerful calmness to all listeners. His recent performance at Sacred Space X and his sunrise set at the Contact Festival were a great source of inspiration for many, and his presence and impeccable musical taste are always highly appreciated. He will be opening up with a set specially prepared for this night.
10pm-12am | Mandala
Formerly known as Mirror, Luke is one of the brightest lights in Eugene's vibrant electronic music scene. He produces many of his own tracks, and carries an amazing vibe with his sets, opening new worlds to the listener with flawless mixing and positive emotions throughout. Luke also runs The Vortex, one of the northwest's most powerful sound systems, and organizes Full Moon gatherings along with his production family A.W.L. (Act With Love). He will be offering on this night a special set of his signature funky psychedelic electro house.
12am-2am | Epsylon | www.agentepsylon.com
With the Contact Festival behind him, Brennan is beginning his summer performance tour with a newfound strength and confidence. The goal as always, is to channel pure love through music. He has begun work on a new system of magical music composition involving the correlations between sound-wave structures and the four elements. His first performance at the temple will showcase the first compositions made in this new modality of musical creation.

Time: 9PM - 3AM
Location: Pi-Rem - 433 NW 4th Ave., Basement Level, Portland, OR
Ages: 21+, ID Required for Admittance
Charge: No Cover, $5 Donation Requested
9 - 10:30 | Satyasamadhi (Metakinetics, PDX)
Downtempo and Psydub DJ, Satyasamadhi is working to bring grounded sounds and atmosphere to various events around Portland. Her goal is create safe spaces at event where people can relax, recover, and regroup as needed. For Satya, music ought to be a transcendental experience that brings new awareness to ourselves, our emotional and spiritual selves, and those around us.
10:30 - 12 | Waater (Environmental Structures, SEA)
Instrumental in the formation of Seattle's psytrance and goa trance scene since 2002, Waater has been a favorite of the Portland crowd for many a year. We do not get to hear him down here very often, but when we do it is always a treat. Waater recently returned from a three month excursion to India where he has collected a plentitude of new tunes for our listening and dancing pleasure.
12 - 1:30 | Epsylon (Metakinetics, PDX)
In the last month, Epsylon has been busy integrating the teachings of the western mysteries into his music. In a set featuring a number of new collaborations with Osiris Indriya, B-Grade and Milo Hayden, he is ready to step things up a notch with a revised set and a fresh approach to creating an uplifting and highly energized atmosphere while anchoring the light onto the dancefloor.
1:30 - 3 |
Shivati (Ohm Base Records, PDX)
Shivati is one of those rare performers who can get on the decks when the energy is beginning to fade at 5 o'clock in the morning and fill the dancefloor again, getting everyone up and dancing as if it were still the middle of the night. With his major event effort "Luminus" behind him, Shivati is working on compliling the first release for his record label, Ohm Base Records, and preparing for travel to India. He rocked the house at Sacred Space V in January; before he leaves we will be blessed to have him rock the house once again.
VJ Disco Beaver
With many years of VJ experience behind his belt and a serious passion for video mixing, Kevin always inspires the crowd with a constantly changing and morphing series of images ranging from beautiful geometric designs to old-skool 3D monochrome green graphics reminiscent of the Matrix. He is noted for keeping the crowd visually informed of the current performer using dynamic text overlays, so that the curious can know what is happening wiihtout having to shout over the loud music.
Arun
Iconography has been Arun's passion and livelihood for many years. Using the medium of cloth, he imprints tapestries and clothing with sacred images designed to invoke divine energies within those who witness them. His unique approach in fusing the iconographic symbols of multiple pantheons and mystical traditions is very helpful in the creation of sacred space anywhere. His pieces can be found hanging from walls, doorways and bodies all over the Pacific Northwest trance community.
Mr. Z | Orbital Monkeys
Zack's numerous stretch fabric installations at recent electronic music gatherings in Eugene and Portland have evoked hightened states of consciousness and raving reviews from organizers and participants alike. We are happy to have him come and enrich our space with his art and vibe. If you wish to compliment him or get him to decorate your space, he can sometimes be found meditating on one of the subwoofers.

Date: Friday, March 9, 2007
Time: 9PM - 3AM
Location: Pi-Rem - 433 NW 4th Ave., Basement Level, Portland, OR
Ages: 21+, ID Required for Admittance
Charge: No Cover, $5 Donation Requested
The seventh installment in Portland's psychedelic and goa trance monthly, we are very excited to have some mainstay performers from the Eugene crowd coming up to play for us this time around. Pi-Rem features an excellent selection of wine and beer (people are amazed at the variety and potency), a powerful and hi-fidelity EAW sound system (the best sounding small system of any bar in Portland), one of the best VJs in the country, string art out of "Tron", iconographic tapestries by Arun, and a very energetic crowd. Please be aware that Pi-Rem is a *non-smoking* club, and no burning of anything is allowed, including incense. Smoking is of course allowed upstairs outside the entrance of the bar.
We ask that all those who choose to attend please respect the space and be mindful of their conduct. Our events can get very energetic, packed and a little crazy from time to time, but we are very interested in continuing these events well into the summer. Due to recent incidents involving the questionable disappearance of the bar’s art books, Pi-Rem is now requiring a bag check for our very busy night. We appreciate your cooperation in this policy.
Our event will feature:
9 - 10:30 | QRX (Rebirth)
Few if any downtempo performers can dish out such a various blend of amazing tunes in such a short time. Anyone who has heard Branden play knows this is true. This man knows his music, and his command of it is a force to be reckoned with. Aside from his talent with the decks, his live performances in the ambient group C120 are known throughout Oregon for their amazing vibrancy. Please come early to bask in the glow of some of the best “chill-out” tunes this side of the Mississippi.
10:30 - 12 | Modcam
A talented producer and seasoned performer, Cameron just keeps it coming with track after track of wonderful music, whether he is spinning or producing. His track with Frost Raven was recently featured in the Autumn Equinox compilation distributed at Goa Gil Oregon 2006. Cameron is also another mastermind behind the ambient group C120, as well as an active graphic designer and web programmer. For this event he will be mixing a highly energetic and unique progressive psytrance set.
For more information on Modcam, please visit:
www.modcam.com
12 - 1:30 | Epsylon (Metakinetics)
Brennan’s passion in life is to further the growth of intention and spirituality in the west coast’s electronic music scene. He engages himself regularly in music production, performance, event promotion, event decoration and teaching at Spun Academy in downtown Portland. He is also a Berklee College of Music B.E.S.T. guitar scholarship laureate and the founder of Metakinetics, a record label and event promotion company. To date he has produced 40 compositions that span five musical genres, but is most passionate about psytrance.
1:30 - 3 | Deke
Founder of the Rebirth Collective and organizer of “Illuminated Forest”, Deke’s dedication and contributions to Eugene’s electronic music scene are well known and very appreciated. His style of psytrance is hard and heavy, blending textures and trippy noises that range from dark to playful and causing your feet to start dancing whether you were planning on it or not. We look forward to ending the night in style with a serious bang as he picks up the tempo and shifts the gear of the party into hyperdrive.
All Night | Iconographic Tapestries by Arun
It is hard to wander through the house of any trancer in Portland and fail to find Arun's art somewhere within. His images blend iconographic symbols of different pantheons into a unique style of blacklight-responsive spiritual entities that penetrate the consciousness in a profound way. Arun has recently created a whole new set of special gold and black tapestries that will be present at our event in abundance. We are incredibly lucky to have him on board with us, and it would be worth coming to our event just to see his art and experience the atmosphere it creates, even if there were no music to speak of.
All Night | VJ Disco Beaver
Evolving and mutating his style constantly, Kevin is a true inspiration and is most certainly one of the most important parts of our event. A trooper if there ever was one, Kevin blends his images continuously for a full 6 hours at our event. Even if there were no music, the visual treat of seeing his layered psychedelic patterns and vibrant color blending is reason enough to come out. At this event we are making extra special effort to protect Kevin's space. Please help us protect his space by alerting any overly wobbly drinkers to stay clear of his table.
Many thanks to all our past attendees for their generous support. We look forward to seeing you there!

Giganticore, Metakinetics and Spun Academy are proud to announce the first event in our second series of monthly psychedelic and Goa trance gatherings. For those unfamiliar with our event, we transform Pi-Rem, one of the country's top rated nightclubs, into a mind-expanding alternate reality by bringing you the best in local DJ and live talent. Pi-Rem features an excellent selection of wine and beer (people are amazed at the variety and potency), a powerful and hi-fidelity EAW sound system (the best sounding small system of any bar in Portland), one of the best VJs in the country, string art out of "Tron", iconographic tapaestries by Arun, and a very energetic crowd. Please be aware that Pi-Rem is a *non-smoking* club, and no burning of anything is allowed, including incense!
Before going into the details of our show, we have some important messages to communicate to our attendees. Our intention with this event is to facilitate the expansion of consciousness through dance. We believe that extended dancing alone is enough to invoke a powerful mind-expanding experience, without the use of any substance, alcohol included. Although the event is held at a bar, and drinking is optional, it is the policy of Pi-Rem that the use and/or distribution of any scheduled substance at this event will absolutely not be tolerated. This should go without saying, but the bar staff has informed us that from this point out, anyone who is witnessed selling or using a scheduled substance at Pi-Rem will be identified, put on a list, and never allowed into the club again under any circumstances.
Please use common sense. This is not a private gathering; it is a public space where anyone may enter. Your responsibility, discretion and good behavior are essential to the health of our event, and although we do not want to scare you away or tell you what is or is not appropriate for you to put in your body, we do not determine the policy of Pi-Rem and have no control over who they decide to allow in or kick out. It is for this reason that we ask you: please do not bring scheduled substances to our event! If you choose to drink, drink responsibly, and *do not bring your beer anywhere remotely near the DJ or the VJ*! At our last event an excessively drunk individual who shall remain nameless was dancing with his beer near the VJ, tripped, and spilled it all over the VJ's laptop, causing hundereds of dollars in damage. This sort of thing cannot happen again if we hope to continue holding this event.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. So without further ado, this gathering will feature:
9 - 10:30 | Mortal Engines
The night will begin with a unique fusion of all original ambient and industrial music. Started in 1994 in Portland, Mortal Engines contributed material to the Precipitation Compilation CD (1995- Partial Records), the Amphibious Maximus Compilation (1995- Red Phraug Records), and the Storm of Drones 3 CD compilation (1996-Asphodel Records). The spent the next seven years parenting and making home tapes. The most recent Mortal Engines Release is a collaboration with the Noisettes (Static Blue, 2004- available through CD Baby. More information and music samples can be found at:
www.myspace.com/mortal_engines
10:30 - 12 | Blue Submarine
The tempo will pick up as this talented and energetic Giganticore DJ jumps on the decks. His style is characterized by heavily melodic, yet very energetic tracks that are quite memorable and very danceable. As if that were not enough, his positive vibes, mesmerizing dance style and enthusiastic presence contribute much to the vibe of our event, holding a space that is rare to find in a DJ. His generous contributions to our event behind the scenes have always been greatly appreciated, and we are excited to have him play.
12 - 1:30 | Amber
A mainstay performer and key coordinator in the Portland trance scene for many years, we are both honored and blessed to have her play for this event. She brings it hard and punchy, and is deeply appreciated for the energetic work she peforms behind the decks, rocking the crowd at any time of day or night with her excellent track selection and flawless mixing skills. Perhaps the most experienced lady DJ playing psytrance in the Pacific Northwest, we welcome Amber to our event with loving arms.
1:30 - 3 | GyPsy
Back by popular request, GyPsy is one of the most prolific trance producers in Portland, pumping out track after track of original material with amazing dedication and frequency. As a DJ, his skills are remarkably good. The space he holds has been a popular subject of conversation among the attendants at our past events. He more often than not arrives in some wild costume, making his sets particularly fun and memorable. His contributions to our scene are innumerable, and we are very pleased that he is returning for another performance.
All Night | Iconographic Tapestries by Arun
It is hard to wander through the house of any trancer in Portland and fail to find Arun's art somewhere within. His images blend iconographic symbols of different pantheons into a unique style of blacklight responsive spiritual entities that penetrate the consciouness in a profound way. Time: 9PM - 3AM
Location: Pi-Rem - 433 NW 4th Ave., Basement Level, Portland, OR
Ages: 21+, ID Required for Admittance
Charge: No Cover, $5 Donation Requested
We plan to make the new year start off with a bang with the best Sacred Space event yet! We have a solid lineup of musical talent, a new and detailed art installation by Bret, a special VJ performance that will be integrated with Bret's art, iconographic decoration by Arun of the Aruniverse, string art by Epsylon and Semblance, a fully tuned EAW sound system, not to mention the excellent selection of potent libations at Pi-Rem, Portland's best club venue for electronic music.
MUSICAL TALENT LINEUP
9 - 10:30 | Byron (Live PA)
Byron Groves is one of the most inspiring live electronic music acts in the Northwest. Improvising his continuous, genre-defying sets with all hardware modules, synthesizers and samplers, he has a different take on what "psychedelic" means in his music. He is not often seen in the uptempo psytrance circles because he spends so much time creating music in his studio, but when he comes out for a performance, he is not to be missed. Please come early to witness a very special live performance.
10:30 - 12 |
Epsylon (Live PA)
"Music is melody." This is the philosophy behind Epsylon's music. In a time when psytrance seems to be gravitating towards a darker, more minimal sound, he continues to play heavily symphonic and uplifting compostitions that set him apart from the crowd and inspire dancers from different scenes who have labeled psytrance as "a roller coaster ride through hell" to think again. His recent performances at "Metapoesis", "Earthdance", "Sacred Space I", and "Rememberance" have inspired and uplifted hundreds.
Click here for Epsylon's full biography.
12 - 1:30 |
Semblance (DJ Set)
Seasoned performer and Giganticore mastermind, Semblance is one of the most appreciated DJs on our lineup. Each set he has spun at the Sacred Space events has always seen a packed and energized dancefloor peppered with frequent screams of utter glee. His sets are characterized by a very psychedelic, in-your-face sound that is relentless, full of attitude, and highly danceable. He takes a great amount of care in mixing his tracks, providing subtle and long blends that blur the line between where one track ends and the next one begins.

Our third Sacred Space event showed slightly decreased numbers from the second one, probably due to a violent storm that made traveling for the many dancers who do not have cars in Portland rather difficult. However, the vibe was top notch and the party was successful despite the unexpected circumstances. The event witnessed a remarkable blacklight installation by Ninja Monkey, as well as a stellar VJ performance. The dancefloor really began to heat up around Semblance's set, and continued to host high amounts of activity through the end of Gypsy's set.

Our second Sacred Space event showed a noticable improvement in sound quality, decorations and donations. We were fortunate to have been lent an EQ and compressor from Semblance's friend Jesse, and there were a number of comments that the sound was much better. Moreover, Arun showed up with a wealth of tapestries which were hung from the rafters and created a simply amazing space. Satyasamadhi was unable to appear due to unexpected circumstances, but Semblance covered her spot and played tribal house for the first hour. Malasquee, the collaboration between celebrated DJs Malaclypse and Squee, caused a huge amount of commotion on the dancefloor, which was followed by an amazing set by Waater that was of a lighter sound than usual. The event ended on an excellent note with many dancers migrating to the Cathedral to continue dancing at City Repair's "Driftwood" event.

The first Sacred Space event went off with flying colors with an attendance count of appoximately 200 people throughout the night. At certain points it was so packed that it was hard to move without bumping into people. Attendees were impressed by the string art decorations and exotic atmosphere of Pi-Rem, and the dancefloor was packed from about 11PM until the end of the night at 3AM. QRX did not appear as planned, but Epsylon filled his slot with a smooth downtempo set full of mantras and ambience leading into his uptempo psytrance set. Semblance's performances put the energy into a higher tempo, somewhat edgier space, followed by the cutting edge signature sound of Manifest and his collaborative tracks with Cracker Jap under the project name "Freaks of Nature".

Metakinetics provided musical talent and backup support for this party, which was almost entirely organized by Agent VII23 of Synchronistic Events. Assistance was limited to Epsylon's personal efforts, including meeting with Electric Skychurch, help with set-up, filming, last minute errands, a small contribution of party funds and damage control. The night came off with a good start and the dancefloor was packed for Epsylon's set. As time went on and people continued to arrive, there was some difficulty with the map-point situation and the unavailablity of presales, which was overcome midway through the night. A surprise appearance by cowboy singer Michael Martin Murphey was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. The nmelectronic thread regarding this party continued to exhibit extensive activity for months and months after the party was over.
